How many babies are born with a single-ventricle heart defect?

I don't know the specific names of the defects that fall under that heading but I'm wondering what the statistics are on babies born with them.

My son has Pulminary Artresia which is I guees is a single valve defect, the pulminary valve did not grow so he had to have his first surgery when he was 2 days old.My cardiologist said that Childrens Hospital in Vancouver B.C. Canada gets about 1 per month and that is for all of British Columbia.I wish I knew exactly how many there were.A child with a defect like my son has will live a perfectly normal life,he will have to have open heart surgery again in a few months, then at around age 4 or 5 ,then every 4 to 5 years after that until he is an adult then the new valves last about 10 to 12 years. The only thing they said is he would not be able to be an olympic athlete, but so what, maybe he will be an amazing cardiologist or cardiac surgeon!!Most of these heart babies lead a normal life aside from a few surgerys.I hope this helped answer your question somewhat.
